HI! fashion.

after seeing an ad for DailyLook  on Facebook and a promo for 2 mos. free of their Elite service i decided to give it a go. seeing as i don't have time for much of anything anymore with my crazy work hours and soul sucking commute, it seemed like a great option. the background: after filling out a profile, naming some fashionistas you admire and linking to your pinterest boards, a $20 monthly styling fee gets you clothes and accessories sized and customized to your preferences, shipped to your home, with free shipping both ways. you get 6 - 10 hand selected pieces of various price points (as specified in your profile). if you choose to keep anything from your monthly box, the $20 styling fee is applied as a credit. even if you don't choose something from the Elite box, you can use your credit during that month at the store and as an Elite subscriber shipping is free. the experience: my first box's styling was a little off. i received things that while pretty, weren'...

Quickie: Documentaries I NEED to see

i've been listening to OpieRadio's Doc Series on Sirius XM lately and have thoroughly been intrigued by the following documentaries, now on my 'must see' list: Soaked in Bleach - for Kurt Cobain fans and those conspiracy theorists who think he was murdered, this promises some revelational insights. a life-long Nirvana fan and having recently watched Montage of Heck, which i highly recommend, i feel like i have to watch this doc Amy - don't really need to give too many reasons here. a very personal look into Amy Winehouse compiled of footage shot on mobile by friends. nuff said. Finding Vivian Maier - seeing as my friend and manager was once watched by mysterious nanny, Vivian Maier, i am more than intrigued to see this movie which documents her thousands of street photos found post-humously in a storage unit. apparently Vivian was a bit of an odd-ball and a woman of little words - should definitely be an interesting watch can't wait to watch these...che...

things are gonna change...i can feel it...

by that I mean locale mostly. well, with that comes new places, new faces, new opportunities. my agency acquired a local digital marketing agency and while our new, NEW office gets built, we're bunking with them. we moved from mission valley into downtown SD and I couldn't be happier. i didn't realize how much I missed a real city in oh, so long. big buildings, big blocks, big personalities. BIG. and I love it. moving from the NJ/NY area to north county SD 5 years ago was a challenge. I grew up in a big city and moving to the burbs was, well, different. I acclimated and lost that yearning for city life. today it was reawakened. It's so great to be in downtown surrounded by options - stores, restaurants, entertainment. all. right. there. I have a feeling it's going to be wonderful working in downtown and I'm honestly looking forward to it - although my commute still sucks. which brings me to my next point. moving closer to work. If I could, I...

Some afternoon delight? Indulging in a quickie... blog post that is. I recently came across this post on buzzfeed that made me literally LOL. 30 signs you're almost 30 remains relevant through your thirties. Not much I can disagree with on this list. Well played, buzzfeed. Well played.

I have been on an insane juice cleanse kick ever since my colleague Amanda introduced me to Nekter Juice Bar . I'm on my 3rd cleanse in a month and a half. My reasoning? I need to reset my body. Spicy lemonade to fire up that metabolism :) I have not been honoring myself in any way lately. I work long hours and don't do much in the way of exercise. Factor in daily bought lunch and you've got a recipe for disaster. So i've juiced and I have to say it's been good. It's been a blessing in disguise not having to think about what to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner, lol But the benefit isn't in placating my laziness. I'm getting all my fruits and veggies and my body has been taught to crave those things. Hopefully i'll be able to keep the train rolling along through these greener pastures. We shall see. wocka wocka. i <3 cheeseball humor. I DO highly recommend Nekter if you're interested in giving the juice detox a go. The jui...

YOGA does a body goooood.

Image
Shamelessly borrowing the dairy association's tagline because it is WAAAAY more appropriate for yoga. For real. Yoga, is done, in some way, shape or form by all. Everything needs a good stretch now and again. Yoga just takes it to a whole other level. But I digress. And I actually enjoy a cold glass of milk every now and again (not milk hating by any means). In February I passed my 1 year yoga-versary and it's been an incredible journey. "Wheel you humor me and take a pic?" @Mt. Whitney waterfall Things I learned: I am insanely flexible (move over Gumby) Pranayama steadies my nerves and allows me to deeply focus on the task at hand When I practice regularly I can attain balance - spiritually, emotionally and physically All those fancy schmancy asanas (poses) that seemed soooooo impossible - not so! they are definitely attainable and with practice you will be graceful That fear that everyone in class will judge me? Bollocks. In fact, public class is soo...

Lavish cocktail parties - a how-to

Image
Summer is upon us and the work powers that be decided to spring a fun Thursday outing on the staff with lessons on how to throw a proper (pinkies up) cocktail party. Fueled with good food and great drinks while surrounded by awesome company the team headed down to North Park in San Diego for a step-by-step culinary and cocktail guide c/o of Hip Cooks . The theme for the night was infusions. The cocktail station  Peter (PEEEETAAAAA!!), our gastronomic sage guided us on our journey teaching us how to prep and cook fabulous finger foods. We created 3 dishes at a time and while the food cooked the team diversion came via Aaron, master mixologist, who taught us how to make Dionysian libations (also 3 at a time) appropriately paired for our noms. We were sooooo fancy :) Garden Party cocktail in the making  2 rounds of delicious apps and lots of liquid love brought the team together in celebration of 1/2 a year of amazing work for ourselves and our clients. It was a...
