YOGA does a body goooood.

Image
Shamelessly borrowing the dairy association's tagline because it is WAAAAY more appropriate for yoga. For real. Yoga, is done, in some way, shape or form by all. Everything needs a good stretch now and again. Yoga just takes it to a whole other level. But I digress. And I actually enjoy a cold glass of milk every now and again (not milk hating by any means). In February I passed my 1 year yoga-versary and it's been an incredible journey. "Wheel you humor me and take a pic?" @Mt. Whitney waterfall Things I learned: I am insanely flexible (move over Gumby) Pranayama steadies my nerves and allows me to deeply focus on the task at hand When I practice regularly I can attain balance - spiritually, emotionally and physically All those fancy schmancy asanas (poses) that seemed soooooo impossible - not so! they are definitely attainable and with practice you will be graceful That fear that everyone in class will judge me? Bollocks. In fact, public class is soo...

Lavish cocktail parties - a how-to

Image
Summer is upon us and the work powers that be decided to spring a fun Thursday outing on the staff with lessons on how to throw a proper (pinkies up) cocktail party. Fueled with good food and great drinks while surrounded by awesome company the team headed down to North Park in San Diego for a step-by-step culinary and cocktail guide c/o of Hip Cooks . The theme for the night was infusions. The cocktail station  Peter (PEEEETAAAAA!!), our gastronomic sage guided us on our journey teaching us how to prep and cook fabulous finger foods. We created 3 dishes at a time and while the food cooked the team diversion came via Aaron, master mixologist, who taught us how to make Dionysian libations (also 3 at a time) appropriately paired for our noms. We were sooooo fancy :) Garden Party cocktail in the making  2 rounds of delicious apps and lots of liquid love brought the team together in celebration of 1/2 a year of amazing work for ourselves and our clients. It was a...

Mercury Retrograde...so long, farewell, auf widersehn, GOODBYE!

Image
During Mercury retrograde, it's best to be cautious, putting off any major life decisions - large purchases or important moves will likely result in failure or disappointment. When the messenger planet appears to be traveling backwards through the zodiac it's best to check yourself, before you wreck yourself. That being said, sassy Mercury is about to turn direct on June 11th and it couldn't have come at a better time. As i'm gearing up to start MY year (channeling some of that Kim Jong-Il ego-maniacism), I'm looking forward to at least a smooth start. The countdown to my birthday is officially underway and in the next 2 weeks i'd love to purge what didn't serve and plan for the year ahead surrounding myself with all that was and is good. A couple of goals i'm willing to share: Figure out my schedule so that I can fit yoga into my life once again. My body, mind and spirit yearn for it. Buy a home of my own. I'm so over paying someone els...

i heart lifehacks

Image
In January I started a job that keeps me at my desk for upwards of 9.5 hours daily on average. Consider my 2-3 hour commute and my mandatory 7-8 hours night-nights (sleep keeps you young....and sane....) and that leaves about 2 hours time to actually live. That said, I'm a big fan of anything that streamlines and improves my life....and keeps me from looking like i'm rundown (although I sometimes feel it!) My latest obsession on the makeup front, which helps me look rested when i'm not, is eye brightener. As someone with large, anime eyes I haven't frequently used brightener in the past since it's primary purpose is to make small eyes look bigger. If you're lacking sleep however, the inside rims of your eyes can show it, but a schmeer of brightener on the lower eyelid rim makes a TON of difference. So if you're missing sleep but don't want to look like it, try this quick trick. My favorite? Rouge Bunny Rouge Eyes Wide Open Brightening Liner Duo which...

Rise from the grave.....

I wouldn't be a child of the 80s/90s if I couldn't on occasion pull an awesome 16 bit scrolling video game reference out of my back pocket. If you don't know, the header is the opening of Altered Beast, one of my all time favorite games on Sega Genesis. but i digress. The point of that was to say i'm back. I hope. No promises, lol. I hope to post semi-regularly, because I KNOW you're all chomping at the bit for more. Who you all are, i'm not sure. Might just be me here, but whatever. It's cathartic...and I don't really mind a one gal party :p On THAT note, keep your eyes peeled for more...
